We are a not for profit kindergarten that relies on funding from the Victorian government as well as the payment of term fees. The kindergarten requires a fixed per capita grant for each child attending the four year old program.

There is one 3-4 year-old group (Gumnuts). This group has 22 positions, offering a 6 hour per week programme. This programme is not a government funded program.

There are three 4-5 year-old groups (two of which offer 15 1/2 hours, Kangaroo Paw and Bluebell and one with 18 1/2 hours per week Wattle). Each group has 11 positions available.  Due to the four days over which the Wattle Group program will run, we believe this is best suited to the older child.

Glass Street Kindergarten provides a secure and happy environment for the children in its care. Our aim is to plan and cater for the wide spectrum of individual needs and capabilities of the children attending the Kinder, fostering each child’s growth and development throughout the year.

We aim to instill in the children a sense of self worth and assurance, and to enhance the coping strategies that will prepare them for their roles in the wider communities of school and society. A positive attitude towards individual children is fostered and a value system of mutual respect for an individual uniqueness and value, regardless of sex or race is promoted.

At Glass St Kindergarten, our staff are challenged and excited by the Reggio Emilia Educational Project in Early Childhood. One of the most important aspects of this approach is that it recognises the worth of children for who they are now.
